General Information and Policies for Preschool and Kid’s Day Out
Cross Roads Preschool begins the day after Labor Day. The preschool operates concurrently with the calendar of the Gateway School District for September through the third week of May. We will observe the same vacation periods and holidays with only a few exceptions. We will be closed a few extra days before Christmas, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and on days where school would interfere with a church function.
Please review the following documents regarding our payment policies and procedures.
We will post delays and/or cancellations to the three local networks (ABC, CBS, NBC). You will need to look for Cross Roads Preschool and Kids Day Out.
If a 2-hour delay is posted, KDO will start at 10:00A.M.
Preschool classes are as follows:
Morning Preschool 10:00AM – 12:00Noon
Afternoon Preschool 1:00PM – 3:00PM
If a cancellation is posted, Cross Road Preschool and KDO will be closed.
Please check the local TV, radio, or internet for updates.
Attendance and Health
Although regular attendance at school is desirable, parents are urged to keep sick children at home. It is important to remember that a number of illnesses begin with simple cold symptoms.
If a child becomes ill in school, the parent will be notified. If a parent is not available, the child will be isolated from the class until arrangements can be made to return home.
If an emergency health problem should arise when the parent is not available, one of the persons whose name has been given for emergency purposes will be contacted. If it is necessary, and permission has been given, the teacher will obtain emergency medical aid for the child.
Children should be dressed comfortably and suitably for activities. Shoes should be suitable for climbing. Children’s clothing should be suitable for outdoor activity in good weather. Be sure that every article of clothing and all other personal items are labeled clearly, including sweaters, coats, caps, mittens, overshoes, book bags, and lunch boxes.
Snacks will be provided each day. Parents who desire to provide snacks may sign up on the charts provided for this purpose. Snacks not containing sugar are encouraged (fruit, cheese, vegetables, crackers, etc.) However, special treats such as donuts and cookies are allowed at parties. Please check with the teachers about other children’s allergies to chocolate, peanut butter, apple juice, etc.
Transportation and Driveway Courtesy
Transportation for the children is the responsibility of the parents. Therefore, we need your cooperation to avoid traffic problems at the front entrance of the church. The most congested times are during dismissal of the Preschool (11:30 AM and 3:00 PM). During these times we ask that you do not park your car in the circle. If you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park in the front or side parking lot. This includes dropping off or picking up children at Kid’s Day Out. In those instances where it is difficult for you to walk from the parking lot, please plan to arrive five minutes early so that you will not block the line of traffic. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
